Brad Kovar is the founder, President and CEO of Safeguard EnviroGroup, a distinguished indoor environmental consulting firm in Southern California. He holds board awarded designations, third-party accredited by the Council of Engineering and Scientific Specialty Boards (CESB) and the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA), in several indoor environmental disciplines.

Mr. Kovar consults on indoor environmental issues for state and municipal agencies, insurance companies on major loss claims and is a court certified expert providing testimony and pre-trial forensic case development in the fields of microbial and smoke damage investigations and remediation. Mr. Kovar has extensive experience as a hygienist, instructor and consultant in the indoor environmental industry and has served on national and international indoor environmental scientific committees including the IAQA, RIA, ACAC and IESO. He has personally conducted hundreds of investigations and written thousands of analytical reports involving a broad range of indoor environmental issues including; microbiology, allergens and smoke damage in residential, commercial and industrial settings. He has substantial experience in presenting IICRC approved continuing education courses and workshops to indoor environmental professionals, insurance carriers and remediation specialists with such topics as, microbiology, sewage/CAT 3 losses and wildfire smoke damage investigations and remediation.

Mr. Kovar has participated in the examination and forensic analysis of thousands of microbial property damage and health related claims. He co-authored with nationally recognized Microbiologist, Dr. P. Chakravarty, a peer-reviewed, internationally cited study evaluating the effects of five antifungal agents used in remediation practices against six common indoor fungal species published by the Journal of Occupational and Environmental Health and the IICRC scientific Journal. Mr. Kovar was also a presenter on the subject of antimicrobial agents and member of the expert roundtable on microbial remediation at the IICRC/CIRI 2016 Technical Symposium and Conference in Atlanta, Georgia. In addition, Mr. Kovar participated in the investigation and analysis of hundreds of smoke damage claims involving structural, protein and wildfires throughout the US, including every major California wildfire in recent history.

Mr. Kovar has collaborated and co-authored, with renowned experts across the country, authoritative technical guidelines on smoke damage investigations and remediation which have been published in peer-review scientific journals. The IICRC's Journal of Cleaning, Restoration and Inspection has recognized these procedural guidelines as the industry's first comprehensive guidelines for wildfire damage investigations and remediation. Mr. Kovar was a presenter and member of the expert roundtable on wildfires at AIHce 2016 and was the principal drafter of an ANSI Standard on Fire and Smoke Damage.
